srisailamHuge star cast, poor narration

Reeling a bundle of fights and keeping a bunch of songs at will, keeping huge star cast are just not enough to make a film. Despite the presence of stalwarts like Krishnamraju and Nagababu, star comedians like Brahmanandam and Venumadhav, the latest flick directed by KS Nageswara Rao failed to enthuse the audiences. Keeping in view the recent terror attacks in Mumbai and the earlier bomb blasts in Hyderabad in view, the director prepared a story where the hero fights terrorism. Though his intention was great and clear, director Nageswara Rao has lost a clear vision and plan to present it on the screen. His did no sincere effort to present subject on the screen. Even the star image of Srihari could not save the film, as the action scenes too were quite cinematic and clearly showed that it is nothing but cinematic.

Srisailam (Srihari) joins a woman's college as a bus driver. The college was affiliated to a university whose vice-chancellor is Krishnadevarayalu (Krishnamraju). The government appoints the VC as an ambassador of peace, in order to crush the terrorism with an iron first and the government feels that both India and Pakistan should sit together and agree to fight the terrorism. When the VC was about to meet the Muslim top leaders, some terrorists attack him and Srisailam saves the VC from them. However, the VC suspects Srisailam and subjects him to narco-analysis test. During the test, Srisailam reveals the flashback. He reveals the secret that he was a Major in the army posted at Kashmir. Viswanath (Nagababu) is his best friend, whose wife and son die in a blast triggered by terrorists.

In order to save Amarnath tourists, Viswanath and Srisailam were asked to handover a terrorist to the terrorist group. Viswanath kills himself along with the all the terrorists with the help of explosives during the operation. This incident makes Srisailam to take a decision to eliminate the terrorists inside the country. Srisailam comes to know that the terrorists are not being infiltrated, but are being groomed in Hyderabad. So Srisailam goes to Hyderabad like a terrorist. His plan works and with the help of a jihadi, he meets the Pakistani terrorists in Kashmir and learns that they were planning to kill Krishnadevaraya. Thus Srisailam wins the appreciation from Krishnadevaraya and agrees to teach boxing to his son Ram (Ram Kiran). Both Krishnadevaraya and Srisailam join hands and they finally eliminate all the terrorists who were trying to create terror with the help of the youth and college students.

PERFORMANCE:

Srihari is okay in an action hero's role. Srihari, proved himself as a versatile artiste, who rose from an ordinary artiste to the hero. His performance in various films as a character artiste helped many films become blockbusters. Especially, his action hero image was expected to get a boost with this film and he was supposed to regain his past glory. Krishnamraju, who was away from the film industry for the past some time and became busy in politics, returned to the industry after a long time and played a full length character. His role in this film is honourable and okay. Nagababu too played a very good role. Though he appears in a couple of scenes, they remained a highlight. The director failed to make use of star comedians like Brahmanandam, Venumadhav and Chitram Sreenu in the absence of a good comedy track.

srisailamTECHNICAL:

None of the departments behind the camera worked satisfactorily. The music in the film is atrocious. The debutant music director Sri Sai failed on all fronts. The tunes in the film are neither attractive nor melodious. The background score is dreadful. The DTS mixing spoiled the mood of the audiences with no sync between the sound and the lyric. Camera work by Adusumilli Vijayakumar is average. The action scenes though to certain extent okay, they were too cinematic and only glorified the action hero image of Srihari. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is too not worthy for a senior like him. Above all, it was the appalling screenplay and poor run of the story by the director which played a complete spoilsport in the film. It is not known why the director brought out the film in a half-hearted way.

The improper placement of songs, the disjointed scenes and the cinematic jumps of events made the film boring. At least the young pair of the film Ramkiran and Suhani also failed to impress the audiences. Ramkiran is a total failure as a hero as he had no glamour, no physique and no effort to show heroism. Suhani was wasted as heroine.

Analysis:

The audiences who go to the theatre with lots of expectations, return with dissatisfaction with the terrible narration of the movie. It has no entertainment values. Especially the comedy track between Brahmanandam, Venumadhav and Chitram Sreenu also failed to bring at least a smile on the face of audiences. Though a couple of action scenes are good to look at, they only satisfy the front benchers but not any more audiences. When the director could not make use of seasoned artistes, the blame should go to the director himself and not the artistes. Despite great performance, the poor narration of the film would make it a sheer waste. A film which could be avoided without any hesitation.
