Glamour and comedy only could save the film

Nithin, who was on a flops spree after giving two initial hits like ‘Jayam and Sye’ in his career, again came before the Telugu audiences with yet another subject with action in its backdrop. This time, he chose Ileana, who had two big hits to her credit like ‘Jalsa’ and ‘Kick’ believing her success streak would help him too. One should remember that a good subject, able handling of the story by the director, performance by the lead artistes and also the music would play a key role for the success of any movie and not just the sentiment or the image that accrued through successive hits.

Siva (Nithin) is a thief. He does robberies on the lines of Robinhood. He robs the Peter to pay Paul. He always robs the black money and spends it for the education of orphans and to run orphanages and old age homes. Though he is a criminal, he always uses his intelligence and escape from the police. Once the police crack a major cricket betting racket and gets vital information about the money (Rs 500 crores) collected in India through one of the gang members. However, the Home Minister (Ahuti Prasad) transfers the commissioner (Bhanuchander) and appoints a new person in his place and grabs the Rs 500 crores and conceals in the overhead water tank. On information from the transferred Commissioner, Siva robs the money and in a bid to escape from the police falls in a big ditch along with the jeep.

However, he comes out, leaving the entire cash there itself as no one suspects it. Later, he joins an old woman (Ramaprabha) in a bungalow near to it and promises her to take her to their village for her grand daughter’s marriage. At the venue, the granny introduces him as one of their relatives to her nephew. While going to the venue, Siva gets insulted by Krishnaveni (Ileana) near a petrol pump. But he catches her at the venue and after a couple of incidents, both fall in love with each other. Unfortunately, even before Siva confess that he is a thief, everyone comes to know about it. Surprisingly, Krishna slaps Siva and leaves the place in a huff. She decides to go to Dubai to stay with her friend for some time, but the mafia gang kidnaps her. Later the Home Minister gets a call from the mafia don demanding the release of four of his group members besides the Rs 500 crore cash.

The Commissioner then pleads with the don to give at least 30 days time as it needs that much time to collect all his accomplices from various states and release them. At the same time the Commissioner suggests to release and send Siva to Dubai who could safely bring back Krishna. After a promise to lift all the cases on him, Siva agrees to go to Dubai. As expected, Siva successfully relieves her from the mafia’s custody and at the same time wins her heart once again. The film ends on a happy note.

PLUS:

Ileana’s glamour, action scenes by Nithin, comedy by Sunil, Suman Setty Venumadhav and Raghubabu are the highlights of the movie. The action scenes would definitely attract the front benchers. Nithin, once again made good use of his eight-pack body to prove himself an action hero. Ileana filled the glamour slot well and once again it was proved that the directors are so obsessed to her belly button. Though not she wore any revealing costumes, she took every precaution to showcase her centre of attraction.

Camera work by Surender Reddy is good in songs. He captured the beauties of Dubai, the desert and the airport and others well with his camera. As was said in the intro, the comedy scenes were perfectly scripted for all the comedians. The director made good use of all the comedians whom he chose for the film and they too delivered their best. It is not known how far the comedy and glamour would help in the success of the movie, one thing is sure that the film has several ingredients of an out and out commercial formula movie.

MINUS:

Music by Manisharma is terrific. The ‘eardrums’ of the audiences would blast with the mass beats tuned by Manisharma. Moreover, the number of songs is more and the audiences felt bored for keeping one song after another with very less duration. Moreover, the choreography of songs was pathetic. But for the stereotype dances, none of the songs had any worthy steps. However, one thing is sure that Nithin gave his best. Poor narration of the story, old fashioned screenplay based on a commercial formula, unnecessary jeep chases in deserts made the film a mockery. But for the action scenes, the film has nothing at all to impress. Songs by Bhaskarabhatla had a mix of English, Hindi and Telugu languages giving a feel to the common audiences whether they are listening to a Telugu film song or not. It is not known when the writers would pen a lyric with clean Telugu words alone.

REMARKS:

After ‘Mosagallaku Mosagadu’ of Super Star Krishna, (possibly) this is the straight Telugu film, which was shot for more than two months in a desert in intolerable conditions. Nithin’s poor dialogue modulation, stereotype dance movements punctured the balloon of fortune, which he built through action scenes. It could be an okay film for the frontbenchers, but it may not go well with city audiences. After watching technically brilliant films, this kind of commercial formula film definitely doesn’t gel well with the youth.
