NenintheA movie about the travails in film industry

Several films have come on the Telugu screen about film-making and the travails of the artistes and technicians in the film industry. However, director Puri Jagannath in association with his hattrick ('Itlu Sravani Subrahmanyam, Idiot and Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi) hero Raviteja once again tried to explain them with some salt (love) and pepper (action). Moreover, the producer bagged hits both with the hero (Raviteja in Krishna) and with the director (Puri Jagannath with Desamuduru). So the successful combination brought out another hit.

Ravi (Raviteja) is an assistant director under a popular director Idli Satyanarayana (Brhamanandam). During a film shooting he meets Sandhya (Siya), who ekes out a living as a dancer. Sandhya's sister Surekha's (Surekhavani) husband Rambabu (Krishna Bhagawan) used to harass both of them. Yadu (Supreet Reddy), a goon, who used to occupy prime lands eyes Sandhya. Ravi narrates a story to the producer (Sayaji Shinde). Though impressed with the story, he doesn't want to take risk to promote Ravi as director. Ravi then narrates the story to the hero Mallik (Subbaraju) and when he too expresses the doubt on how far he is able to present it on the screen. So, Ravi takes the help of Sandhya and some of his friends and brings out a trial shoot. Once director VV Vinayak Ravi asks Ravi for a new face and after watching Sandhya's performance in the trial shoot, takes her as heroine. Sandhya turns a heroine. Impressed with the trial shoot, Mallik convinces the producer to produce the film. The film shooting begins with Mallik as hero and Sandhya as heroine. At this time, an item dancer Mumait (Mumait Khan), who had an affair with Mallik attempts suicide and gets raped. As a result, the project gets dropped. Does the film start again? Did Yadu spare Sandhya? How and why Yadu involved in film-making? How Yadu exploit Ravi? What makes Ravi to teach a lesson to Yadu?. Answers to all these questions form part of the second half of the movie.

PERFORMANCE:

Raviteja gave his usual performance and it is like a cakewalk for him to do such characters. Moreover, the film is like his real life story as he started his career as assistant director. The rapport between the director and the hero worked very well and his character was moulded perfectly. He is very practical and positive in nature. He showed nice performance as a professional technician, a lover, a man who has a clear understanding on love, life and profession, besides a son who feels sorry for not able to take care of his mother's health. Heroine Siya had several shades and she appeared like Nayanatara, Asin and some other popular heroines. Though she is not great at performance, okay opposite Raviteja. Sayaji Shinde as producer, Brahmanandam as a senior director, MS Narayana as a co-director, Subbaraju as hero, Krishna Bhagawan as a broker who tries to cash in on the heroine's image, Supreet as a goon and villain and last but not the least Sairam Shankar as a fans association president did justice to their respective roles.

TECHNICAL:

It was the director all the way in the film. The audiences could identify the director's grip on the subject and his mindset to project each and every aspect in the film industry. He did leave no stone unturned in making his point clear about technicians in the film industry. His impact could be seen in every frame of the movie. Next comes Chakri. The combination of Puri Jagannath, Raviteja and Chakri brought out several musical hits and 'Neninthe' could be added to the list. Almost all the songs were tuned very well. Especially, the song 'Krishna Nagare Mama….' is a highlight in the film, where the lyricist clearly explained the feelings of the technicians of the industry. Though Mumait Khan did an item song, the lyric had lot of philosophy. There are many punch dialogues in the film and almost every character in the film had at least one dialogue which was aimed at giving a message to the audiences. Cinematography by Shyam K Nadu is adequate and the romantic song had come out well due to the sheer brilliance of the cameraman.

nenintheREMARKS:

Though the entire film was aimed to make sarcastic comments on the present trend in the film industry, the director ignored the fact that how far it is interesting to the average audiences. No doubt, he mixed love, sentiment, action and other such commercial elements to make it as an entertainer, the basic theme of the film is not very interesting for common audiences. The director should have concentrated more on the villain. The director chose to shower satires on the media, yellow journalism and the sheer reverence of fans towards the artistes. As a whole the film is 'for, of and about' the film industry. The film is worth watching once, because of hero Raviteja, the punch dialogues with messages and the music by Chakri.
