mental KrishnaPoor directorial ability tested audiences' patience

After all, people spend their time by going to a film theatre for entertainment. Of course, there are some other category people, who also look for some novelty, action and sentiment. However, days have gone where the people make their eyes wet by watching the heroine crying on the screen and feel sad for her problems and other situations. Writer-turned-director Posani Krishnamurali might have been under the impression that making the heroine cry would be different from routine and the people would throng the theatres to watch a heroine for performance. However, his ideas were proved miserably wrong and it boomeranged with people outrightly rejecting the idea from the first day first show by branding the film as a super flop.

Satya (Satyakrishnan) is the daughter of an industrialist (Giribabu). She falls in love with a boy who is a milk vendor by profession. However, the reason for falling in love is not that he is handsome or gorgeous but his intelligence which made him to win a seat in International School of Business. Moreover, he continues to do his regular work as usual despite his achievement. This simplicity makes Satya to lose her heart. Muddu Krishna (Posani Krishnamurali) is the only son of another big industrialist (Ranganath). As the couple were fond of girl children and they used to decorate Muddu Krishna as a girl too. Muddu Krishna too used to celebrate his birthdays in girl's attire. He did not want to marry a girl who likes him. He wants to marry a girl, who refuses him. At this juncture, Muddu Krishna proposes to Satya only to get a refusal. Satya's family agrees for the alliance with the boy to whom she lost her heart. Somehow, the marriage doesn't take place due to some unavoidable circumstances. Muddu Krishna's mother comes to their rescue and gets Satya married to her son. Muddu Krishna starts harassing Satya saying that he is an impotent and Satya is trying to take advantage of the situation. He goes to the extent of alleging extramarital relationship with her ex-lover. Why Muddu Krishna behaved like that? What were the repercussions of the harassment? Did Muddu Krishna and Satya separate over the harassment? Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.

PERFORMANCE:

As an artiste Krishnamurali did a nice job all through the film. Satyakrishnan too gave a memorable performance as the movie basically revolves around these two roles. Krishnamurali had everything clear in his mind as he himself created the character and had a complete grip on the subject. So he did complete justice to his role. Satyakrishnan, who got an opportunity to play solo heroine, for the first time, utilised the chance well. Other artistes like Giribabu, Ranganath, Brahmaji, Raghubabu and Raghubabu did justice to their respective roles as they were the most seasoned artistes. Brahmanandam, MS Narayana tried their best to provide entertainment, but the comedy evoked partial response.

mental krishnaTECHNICAL:

Like an old king and milk epic, the film has failed to give the message properly. If you need a proper explanation, a king wanted to celebrate a function and asked all the farmers to bring a pot of milk. Most of the farmers in the village brought water and poured in the vessel thinking that all the others will bring milk and his pot of water would not matter much. Only few people who are genuine bring milk and the entire vessel is filled with watery milk. Like this, the director in a bid to expand the delicate and simple storyline, chose to spend more time on unnecessary things diluting the purpose of the subject. The only notable point as far as technical features are concerned is the use of steadycam to shoot the entire film without going for any other cameras.

ANALYSIS:

The director miserably ignored the entertainment part in the film. Though his histrionics in harassing the wife are expected to provide comedy, they turned out to be embarrassing episodes. The purpose of keeping comedians like MS Narayana, Brahmanandam and others was totally lost. Nagababu's role is also appeared absolutely unnecessary. Moreover, the director failed to establish the love between the heroine and her loverboy properly and he went a little overboard in a bid to unite lovers. A director should have grip on all the 24 crafts in the film industry. It would be better that writers like Krishnamurali should learn that mere capability to pen a story and screenplay won't serve the purpose all the times.
