malli mallliPoor narration killed the message

Cinema is a powerful medium and any message that was given through a film would straight go into the minds of the audiences. This is a common remark on the films. However, it is not known how many artistes and technicians are preaching what they told on the screen in their real life is not known. Once again it was proved, that Raj Aditya is one among those who did not practice what he preached on the screen. In his latest film, ‘Mallee Mallee’ he gave a message that committing suicide is a cowardice act and one had to fight with the problems and emerge himself a winner. But, he ended his life in a hotel room even before the message reaches the audiences through his film.

Satyanarayana aka Satya (Sachin Khedkar) is a social worker. Before turning a social worker, he had many industries and earns millions of dollars by settling abroad. However, Satya returns to India following the death of his wife in India in an accident. Satya had a daughter Madhu (Kalyani) and a son. Satya son gets accustomed to vices and turns a drug addict. Satya tries to divert him from the vices and in the process he attempts suicide but survives. Everyone believe that he had become brain dead. Satya’s brother Ganga assists Satya in all the matters.

On the other side, Nandu (Skanda) is the son of an artiste. Nandu’s father dies due to penury and Nandu gets the responsibility to look after his mother and sister. Nandu completes graduation and tries his best to secure a job but remains unemployed. Nandu meets Madhu accidentally and loses his heart, but his love remains one-sided. At this juncture, Nandu starts getting premonitions and he used to get a dream of what is going to happen tomorrow and in a strange co-incidence, many things starts happening. One day, Nandu gets a premonition that Satya gets killed in his hands at the instance of Naveed Khan.

Nandu goes to Satya, as he had great respect on him and warns him that he is going to face a death threat. Nandu reveals the same to Madhu and catches Naveed Khan and hands him over to the police. Naveed gives a statement that it was Ganga, who instigated him to kill Satya. As Madhu and Nandu were able to save Satya, Ganga gets arrested by the police. At this juncture, Nandu finds that it was not Ganga but Satya’s son who is going to kill Satya. Everyone tries to save Satya and in the melee, Satya’s son gets killed in the hands of his father. The film ends with Nandu and Madhu getting married.

PLUS:

Though novices the debutant hero and heroine tried their best to prove themselves in the film. Skanda is average and he had the similarities of yesteryears hero Karthik. Heroine Kalyani is average in looks but had no scope to prove her acting capabilities. She tried her best to shake legs with the hero in a couple of duets. Comedy by Srinivasa Reddy, Venumadhav, MS Narayana and Master Bharat is the only solace in the movie. But for the comedy scenes, the film had nothing much to talk about.

MINUS:

Despite gaining experience as director with a senior hero like Sumanth, director Raj Aditya did not put his heart in the subject. Instead of explaining what he had in mind, he experimented the ‘premonition’ technique but miserably failed. The narration is boring and the film had no logic. It is not known how a person could change the future, when he had already foresaw what had happened. This basic mistake proved costly for the film as the entire story was woven around this point. Camera by Sivendra is average, while editing by Marthand might earn him a bad name as most of the scenes were boring and escaped from his sharp scissors. The repetition of some comedy tracks bored the audiences. Re-recording is another biggest draw back. Many dialogues in several scenes went into mute and the audiences raised whistles but to no avail as the operator could not get the audio.

malli malliANALYSIS:

At a time when the elections are round the corner and the students are giving their examinations, an uninteresting subject, with poor narration, could not attract the attention to any of the audiences. Moreover, the film has neither known faces in the lead pair and the director is also not very familiar with the audiences and the banner is also new. In this backdrop, the film’s success would depend only on a perfect story with gripping narration. The director failed in both the subjects and hence the film remained a dud. In fact, this was the reason the film failed to make any business and somehow saw the light with the help of Pratani Ramakrishna Goud.
