Imitation of jewellery can't be gold ksp

Vamsi is a great director who dished out several entertainers with village as the backdrop. Most of his films will have a bunch of comedians and most of them will reflect different mindsets of people in a village. While watching the Vamsi's comedy flicks the audiences can heartily laugh all through the film and the comedy bits continue to haunt the audiences even after they return home from theatres. Maddirala, a protégé of Vamsi, who worked for the past several years as his assistant got a promotion as director and he tried to imitate his mentor, but miserably failed with poor climax.

Kanaka Murthy (Tanikella Bharani) is a miser. Though he had a lot of wealth, he continue to remain very selfish and money-greedy. He wants to marry both his sons with girls from wealthy families and earn a whole lot of money through dowry. In order to earn more dowry, he plays a trick and keeps his elder son (Venumadhav) on an attic in his farmland, and publicises that he is going abroad, the US. His second son Anand (Vijayanand) studies in the nearby city and falls in love with a girl there. Incidentally, the girl Sandhya (Suprena) is from his own village and Kanaka Murthy had already agreed for the alliance with Sandhya's father (Jayaprakash Reddy). However, Kanaka Murthy learns that the neighbouring village's head (Benarjee) is ready to pay Rs 30 lakh as dowry to his son, he cancels the alliance with Sandhya. Irked over this, Anand tells his father that he is not going to marry the daughter (Geeta Singh) of the village head. Instead, he challenges that he would earn Rs 30 lakh on his own and give it as dowry to him to marry Sandhya. In order to earn Rs 30 lakh in 30 days to win the challenge, he joins a multi-level marketing company called GDM and collects Rs 9,999 each from the villagers luring them that they could earn lakhs of rupees. One fine morning, the MD of the GDM company turns the board and disappears. Incidentally, Anand also disappears from the village. So every one in the village are after Kanaka Murthy. But the latter refuses to refund their money saying that he is not responsible for their loss. However, Anand catches hold of the MD (Raghunatha Reddy), who was hiding in a guesthouse and thrashes all his goons and gets back the entire money to win the challenge and to teach a lesson to his father.

PERFORMANCE:

Debutant hero Vijayanand had the similarities of Navadeep. His attire, body language, performance reminds the audiences of the upcoming hero. He showed good ease in dances but need to improve a lot in histrionics. Even the dialogue modulation to needs improvement. However, as a debutant he is okay. Heroine Suprena is good in looks and is ready to expose to certain extent, given the exposure she gave in the song sequences. She is also good at romantic scenes. Had she improves her performance a little more, she had bright chances to be a good heroine for the young heroes. Tanikella Bharani's role reminds us of Kota Srinivasa Rao in 'Aha Naa Pellanta'. However, Bharani's performance could not be equated with Kota as the latter had performed even more better than the former in many a film. Krishna Bhagawan is okay as KS (Kasipatnam Sarpanch). Comedy by Bharani's buddy had the flavour of sarcasm. Venumadhav failed to impress with his comedy as he had very limited role. Others are okay in their respective roles.

TECHNICAL:

kspThough the director scripted the screenplay with an inspiration drawn from Vamsi's films and has nothing novel in it. He was at his best till the interval bang. However, he lost grip once the hero challenges his father and from then onwards the movement of the film appears quite stretched and tested the patience of the audiences. The climax was also not so impressive. With the idea of multi-level marketing, the audiences were able to guess the next scene with ease and hence the climax failed to impress the audiences. Music by Chakri is also not very impressive and the re-recording is a big draw back as it failed to elevate the mood in any scene. Even the tunes scored by him are not so melodious, but for one or two songs. Despite the producer spending good money by shooting the songs in Malaysia, the choreography was so so… and could not impress the audiences. However, Camera by Jawahar Reddy is a solace. He captured the greenery of the Konaseema and village atmosphere on the one hand and also the beautiful foreign locales on the other in his camera. Editing by Baswa Paidireddy is adequate and he should have reduced the size of scenes in the second half which are not so impressive.

ANALYSIS:

Bringing out a film is not so easy and one need to work hard on the script, screenplay and the director should have good grip on all the 24 crafts of the film-making. Mere experience of working with a senior director will not do. Moreover, imitating the mentor would not help the protégé to show his talent. The director should show and portray innovative thoughts on the screen to capture the attention of audiences. The director should remember that imitation jewellery could never be sold as gold.
