fitting masterA vain attempt to 'fit' comedy in revenge drama

EVV Satyanarayana is not only a good director but also a good producer with good taste. No doubt, he is famous for comedy films, but whenever he produces a film, he used to ensure some message in most of his movies. He maintained the same tradition for his latest movie 'Fitting Master' too. In order to cash in on Allari Naresh's image, EVV titled the film as 'Fitting Master'. There are only a couple of scenes, that too were intentionally kept to justify the title, but basically the director made an attempt to bring out a suspense and action drama which did not gel well with a comedy hero.

Sampath (Naresh) is a gym coach. He has no soft corner towards love. Whenever someone claim that they are in love, he used to take a class to brainwash them. A rich girl Anjali (Madalsa Sarma) arrogantly hits his bicycle and destroys it. Sampath somehow catches her and collects the money for damaging her bicycle. So, Anjali decides to teach him a lesson. Learning that Sampath is against love, Anjali bets with her friends that she would make him fall in love with her. But she could not succeed in her attempts. At this juncture, there will be a sudden twist in the story, with Sampath killing a person (Rao Ramesh). Before his murder, some scenes appear in black and white hinting that there is some flashback. Anjali continue to move around Sampath and his friend (Qayyum) suggests that her brother could convince either her parents or Sampath. Anjali calls her brother (Amit), but instead of convincing his sister's love, he wants to eliminate Sampath. But the latter kills him mercilessly. The police who were clueless with the first murder gets links between the two murders and realize that both of them are friends and there is another friend called Giri (Ravikant) who was staying in Dubai. Learning the death of his two friends, Giri reaches India. Anjali comes to know that Sampath could be the killer and she tries to clarify it and Sampath gets caught red-handed. Then Sampath reveals the flashback and narrates how his sister (Saira Banu) and parents (Chandramohan and Sudha) died and the reason behind their death. How her brother and his friends were responsible for their death. The film ends with the killing of the third person. When Anjali says that she is still in love with him, Sampath tells her that he had no faith in love and advises her to marry a person selected by her parents.

PLUS:

The basic plus point is the performance of Allari Naresh. As usual he proved very good at comedy and at the same time, he made attempts that there is a good artiste in him. Especially his performance in the murder scene before the interval bang, where he dances while thrashing and killing the villain is excellent. Likewise, he proved that he is good at expressions, when questioning the police and media in some scenes. It is a very nice experiment for Naresh on the lines of his earlier films (Nenu, Pranam and Visakha Express). Sayaji Shinde gave good comedy in a serious role as a police officer. The satires on TV9 with Krishna Bhagawan and Surekha Vani evoked instant response while the marriage of the hero's sister reminds the marriage of Srija, daughter of Chiranjeevi. Music by Chinna is okay. Camera work by D Prasadbabu is good especially during the chases.

MINUS:

Like many films in recent times, the heroine is a big minus. Though she appeared glamorous, she failed to perform even when it was necessary. However, she proved that she has no inhibition to expose to the maximum possible extent. Likewise, several scenes has lost logic. It is not known how a gym coach knows how the villain reach India, from abroad. It is also beyond logic to keep the police at bay without any clues in murders. The comedy track scripted on Ali, Chalapati Rao and Jayaprakash Reddy failed to evoke laughter at all. The director, though most seasoned in reaping comedy, could not satisfy the audiences in most of the scenes. As a result, the film remained an experiment to do an action film with a comedy hero.

fittingREMARKS:

A hero, with certain image, could not come out of it, as it remains a cobweb. Trying to come out of it means to shatter all the image which he earned till that date. Allari Naresh, who had a clean and steady career graph till date, should move in the same direction and should avoid making experiments as they might prove costly in hampering the career. The director cum producer too should understand that comedy might be his forte but he should not go for action films. If he is so interested in making such action films, he should choose a hero with a little serious image instead of spoiling the career of a comedy hero.
