avakaiMixing of Avakai and Biryani really tasteful????!!!!!!!!!

Avakai (Mango pickle) represents the true Hindu, especially of North Andhra or coastal region. At the same time, biryani, the Hyderabadi cuisine, could be equated to Muslim culture. The film story was named after a love story between a Hindu girl and a Muslim boy. Amigos Creation is known for bringing out films with a touch of class and silent hits, once again brought out a decent love subject. Anish Kuruvilla, an associate of Sekhar Kammula, made his debut as director through this movie and Sekhar Kammula himself turned a producer to promote Anish as director, but the film had the complete scent of Sekhar's direction.

Akbar (Kamal Kamaraju) is an autorickshaw driver and works with Masterji (Rao Ramesh). On the other hand, he studies his B.Com (Hons) and struggles to pass the exam every time but fails. Besides being an auto driver, he helps the villagers of Devarakonda by supplying milk and newspapers. He is an orthodox Muslim and offers namaz too. Once, a traditional Hindu family reach the village. The family include Kameswara Rao (Kameswara Rao), his wife, elder daughter Lakshmi (Bindu Madhavi), another daughter and son, besides his mother. Lakshmi's lifetime wish is to make the Avakai of north Andhra very popular across the state, country and also internationally. The family reach Devarakonda as they suffer loss in Konaseema. They also want to establish a hotel near the highway. Learning that Lakshmi also passed her B.Com (Hons), Akbar pleads with her to guide him and she agrees. They become good friends and unintentionally lose their hearts to each other. However, Kameswara Rao is against befriending with Muslims. With Lakshmi's help Akbar passes his degree examination in first class. Babar (Varun), a panchayat board member, eyes Lakshmi and warns Akbar not to befriend with her and threatens that he would inform her father about their love. To prevent it, Masterji challenges Akbar to take part in an auto race with Babar. Why Masterji and Babar turn foes to Akbar? Did Akbar able to win the race? Did Akbar was able to convince Kameswara Rao and win the hand of Lakshmi? Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.

PERFORMANCE:

Kamal Kamaraju, who played a small role in Sekhar Kammula's 'Godavari' got the opportunity and he was promoted as hero through this film. As far as performance, Kamaraju is okay, but he needs to improve a lot in his body language and should try to express his feelings better if he wants to survive in the film industry as hero. Amigos International banner introduced a Telugu girl as heroine through this film without going to Mumbai or other places. Bindu Madhavi is apt in the role and she played her role with very good ease and best suited as the girl to the next door. Durgesh and Praneeth played the hero's buddies and Praneeth tries his best to evoke comedy. Villainy by Varun is good and he seemed to be a promising villain in Telugu. Rao Ramesh played a negative role for the first time and he is at his best in the role. Other roles played by Kameswara Rao and others are okay.

avakaiTECHNICAL:

As far as music, all the songs are melodious tuned by Manikanth Khadri and their choreography is also suited to the subject with no heavy drumbeat and suited perfect to the story. A couple of lyrics by Vanamali are okay and foot-tapping. The literary values in the title song are worth mentioning. But the song comes as a background (playback) song. Camera by Shamdut is okay, but he should improve in choosing proper lighting in shooting the songs. It was straight with no camera gimmicks. Editing by Praveen Boyina is perfect. As a whole the entire crew, though a new team worked in tandem and made it worth watching.

ANALYSIS:

The director ignored to give a logical end to the villain characters and ended them abruptly. The major drawback in the film is comedy. The film should have some more comedy to tickle the funny bone of the audiences. Though the film runs slow and appears boring, the perfect screenplay and director's ability to move the story in a steady pace, made the audiences to sit tight to their seats. The film is almost on the lines of Sekhar Kammula's movie. Though the director is a novice, he gave the audiences a feel that the film was directed by Sekhar Kammula himself. The interesting feature in the film is the autorickshaw race.
