Ankit, Pallavi & Friends - One more youth film

The film ankit Pallavi and friends is yet another light hearted film about today's youth, their dreams, ambitions and aspirations. Director Hari Yelletti is another NRI chap who quit a lucrative job in the US after working for 2 years and decided to take up direction. He teamed up with like minded friends for making the film.

Story:

The story of the film is about five friends, four boys and a girl. They are all good friends since their childhood and each of them grows up with a different aims in life.

While Ankit  (Nikhil) wants to become a big music composer one day, he also has a laid back attitude towards life. He neglects his studies and fails to complete his B.A. Pallavi (Megha Burman) on the other hand is quite opposite to Ankit. She believes in hard work and having a aim and goal in life. She works hard and lands a job in a big software company.

The other friends in the gang all have a different aim. One wants to go to the US at any cost, while another dreams of starting a business. The third has completed his MBA and is serious about social service.

Ankit and Pallavi slowly fall in love. But Pallavi can't stand the casual attitude towards life taken by Ankit. She wants him to get a god job and also quit smoking etc. Ankit does not like this and the two part ways on this issue.

But the two continue to miss each other but do not meet or talk to one another. Ankit becomes a big musician and he is now a celebrity. He is also rich. But Pallavi hesitates to go to Ankit as she feels that Ankit would now tease her saying that just because he has massed wealth and also got a name and fame, she has come back to him.

The other friends in the gang slowly realize their dreams but the guy who gets a visa to go the US finally decides to drop the plan of going to the US. He thinks that his friendship is much more valuable than the promised good life in the west.

The rest of the story is how Ankit and Pallavi patch up their differences and come together once again.

The performance of Nikhil is convincing. He is in fact doing an extension of his role of Rajesh in the film Happy Days. Newcomer Megha Burman fits into her role like a tee. She also shows some ease in acting and is a suitable choice. The rest of the gang is okay. Naresh, Sita, CVL Narasimha Rao and others have a limited role.

Director Hari Yelleti must be commended for coming up with a neat and clean film. There are no big fights or big drama or sentiment in the film. The film is a light hearted entertainer and will appeal largely to today's youth, particularly the multiplex going audience. The NRIs will also connect well with the theme of the film. Music by Vinu Thomas is average but is quite soft on the ears.

The film will appeal to youngsters but does not offer much to the front benchers. The slow pace of the film is a bit annoying at times but the film manages to keep you engaged till the end.
