Veteran actor Gollapudi Maruthi Rao is presenting a National Award every year in the memory of his late son Gollapudi Srinivas with the name Gollapudi Srinivas National award. This year (2009) the award goes to a Marathi film maker and director Paresh Mokashi for his movie Harish Chandrachi Factory (Marathi). This movie is adjudged out of 19 nominations by 3 member jury comprising Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, Kalyanaraman and Gollapudi Maruthi Rao.Yester year South Indian based Bollywood queen, who said that Chennai is like her mother’s womb recently, Rekha and Oscar winner Sound Engineer Resul Pookutty will participate and present this award to the awardee. Musical night will be organized with legendary singer Dr.Jesudas on the occasion. The award will be presented on the 12th August.
